Painterly Techniques for Calligraphers
Calligraphy Workshop with Denis Brown
Duration: 4 to 5 days
Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Enhance your calligraphy skills with a painterly approach in this workshop led by Denis Brown. Explore new relationships of colour, space, and composition in calligraphy.
The workshop will commence with exercises aimed at expanding your understanding of spatial elements and guiding you through the painting process. The primary painting medium used will be artist's alkyd, a versatile paint that offers the same fluidity as oils but with a faster drying time. Participants will work on multiple paintings, layering calligraphy with paint to create compositions of depth and richness.
Please note: This workshop may not be suitable for individuals sensitive to vapours from petroleum spirits such as turpentine or white spirit.
