Explore simple flourishes and italic swash capitals, not as mere decorations, but as bold expressions of creativity. Denis Brown's signature "Celtic critter" flourishes will also be covered in this workshop!

Tools and Materials Required: - Broad-edged calligraphy felt-tip markers (preferably with large nib sizes) - Pencils - Calligraphy dip pens (recommended sizes: 1mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4mm; students can also use their preferred brands) - Pointed nib (any brand) - Ink - Gouache paints - Palette - Mixing brushes - Ruler - Pencils - Eraser - Compass - Plenty of 11"x17" paper for practice - Optional: a sheet or two of higher-quality paper from your preferred brand
