A one day calligraphy meeting for discussion & basic training with Denis Brown
For novices and newbies
Max. 20 students. However, in locations where 4 experienced calligraphers can be provided to assist students, it may be possible to have up to 50 participants in this class, space allowing.
Join us for a day filled with discussion and introductory training in Celtic calligraphy led by the renowned calligrapher, Denis Brown. Expand your artistic horizons and immerse yourself in the beauty of Celtic art at our enriching seminar led by an expert in the field.
This "no pressure" seminar will provide participants with a practical introduction to writing in Celtic script. The day will also include short films and slide presentations showcasing themes of Celtic art found in important manuscripts, as well as examples of modern Celtic-style work. No prior calligraphy experience is necessary to attend. Guilds are especially encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to attract new members by publicising this event.
Materials Needed
Each participant is recommended to have the following materials, which might be provided by the organiser to newbies for a materials fee included in the cost of attendance:
- Pilot Parallel pen with a 6mm nib and black ink cartridge
- A stack of A3 size copier or practice paper
- Pencil, ruler, and sharpener
- A3 or 11" x 17" size folder to store paper
Classroom Requirements
To ensure a productive learning environment, the classroom should have the following provisions:
-The room should be equipped with a digital projector capable of projecting from a laptop at 1080p HD resolution (1920x1080 pixels) with HDMI cable connection.
-Good blinds to darken the room during slide presentations
- Audio speakers or a Bluetooth sound-bar for multimedia presentations
-Up to six large tables for display of artwork
