3 sheets of engraved 2mm glass, each spaced 5mm apart, over a unique mono print on watercolor paper bearing shadowy images of the glass engraving. This work features a text from We Learned by Erica Jong, (see below). This is engraved in concentric circles and manifests itself as a surreal third dimension over the background image, which is itself composed from scans of the glass engraving. This background image is a combination of an archival digital mono-print, plus hand painting of various paint splashes. The layers of glass also feature many small drops of clear resin, which appear like 3-D water droplets. The title of Invisible Poem results from the fact that the subtlety of the engraving, (which is a writing without ink), is in some lights overpowered by the effect of it's own shadows printed on the background. In such light the work may appear as a normal flat picture, until the third dimension and the poem reveal themselves on closer inspection. In stronger light, however, the combination of highlights and shadows lend an extra magic.
