3 sheets of engraved 2mm glass, each spaced 5mm apart, over a unique mono print on watercolor paper bearing shadowy images of the glass engraving.

This work features a text from We Learned by Erica Jong, (see below). The text of the title is written in black polyrhythmic cursive script on the glass, while additional text from the poem is engraved at top and bottom of the composition. The bottom portion remains decipherable on careful inspection of the original; it reads : Hold me up to the light; you will see poems / Hold me in the dark; you will see light. The background image is an archival digital mono-print, composed from multiple scans of the actual lettering on the glass sheets, and forms a colorful shadowy base. The layers of glass also feature many small drops of clear resin, which appear like 3-D water droplets. The basic wooden frame has been stained to reflect colors in the work.

See this manuscript covered
with flesh-colored words?
It was written in invisible ink
& held up to our flame.

The words darkened on the page
as we sank into each other.

We are ink & blood
& all things that make stains.
We turn each other golden as we turn,
browning each other's skins like suns.

Hold me up to the light;
you will see poems.

Hold me in the dark;
you will see light.
