Denis Brown is pictured dripping ink onto stretched watercolor paper panels 32 feet wide. Video projections on the rear screen as well as directly onto the panels featured remarkable images of ink flowing accompanied by mysterious music; all filmed, composed & recorded by the artist himself. Brown stated that his dripped vertical lines were a bid to reclaim the barcode as calligraphy, a theme developed from a class he taught on 'conceptual calligraphy' at a past international conference. The event was staged at 'Letters Mingle Souls' in Chicago; the 2008 International Conference for Calligraphy, July 23rd 2008.
